The decision has now been made that the administering of Free School Meals (FSM) entitlement while the education sites are closed will now be carried out by the Benefits Team. The will replace the current interim scheme from April 6.
The Benefits Team has set up an online application form for parents who are entitled to FSM to complete and supply them with bank details so they can issue weekly payments aimed at providing food for their children while they are at home. The form can also be found under the Benefits section of the customer portal – www.torfaen.mycouncilservices.com
Please can all parents apply for this online as quickly as possible for the Benefits Team to get all the relevant details set up on their system to issue payments to them.
We appreciate that this is a very difficult time for everybody at the moment and we are anticipating that payments will be issued on a weekly basis from 6th April 2020. The team understand that this delay could cause some worry to parents but they are working as quickly as they can to get this up and running effectively and efficiently.
We would like ALL parents to apply on line rather than ringing the Benefits team. However if you do not have internet access the Benefits Team will take forms over the telephone but would like to keep these to a minimum if possible.
